Engagement: Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Objective: To build state-of-the-art sports stadia in five strategic regions—Kisumu, Nakuru, Mombasa, Garissa, and Eldoret—to enhance sports infrastructure, foster athletic excellence, and support both grassroots and professional sports development. Budget: KES 9.6 Billion Timeline: 24 months Project Overview: Kenya's current sports infrastructure needs substantial upgrades to meet international standards and to support the increasing demand for sports activities. The lack of modern facilities hinders the development of sports at all levels and limits the country's capacity to host national and international events. This project aims to construct five multi-purpose sports stadia, each equipped with modern amenities to support football, athletics, rugby, and other community events. Stadium Features: Architectural Excellence: Iconic designs blending modernity with the cultural identity of each region. Capacity: Seating capacities between 15,000 and 30,000, tailored to regional needs. Multi-sport Facilities: Versatile spaces suitable for a variety of sports and events. Amenities: Includes restaurants, shopping areas, parking, and green spaces for community interaction. Regional Focus: Kisumu: Focus on aquatic sports and football. Nakuru: Emphasis on rugby, athletics, and community events. Mombasa: Specializes in beach sports and football. Garissa: Supports athletics and traditional sports. Eldoret: Renowned for athletics, with facilities for football. Collaboration and Sustainability: The project involves collaboration between county and national governments, Sport Kenya, private investors, and local communities. It will adhere to green building standards, focusing on energy efficiency and sustainable materials, with accessible facilities for public transportation and people with disabilities. Additionally, the government supports this initiative through digitization of services, periodic Presidential roundtables with the private sector, and the establishment of special economic zones (SEZs) and export processing zones (EPZs)
