The project is to be carried out in three (3) strategic areas, that is, Kisumu, Nyamira and Bungoma which cover the four zones demarcated within the Lake Basin Region namely; Southern zone, Northern zone, Central zone and Rift Valley zone. The project design proposes the development of one (1) main central plant in Kisumu County with a processing rate of 10 tons of raw material per day. Additionally, two (2) satellite collection centres will be established in Nyamira and Bungoma Counties each having a handling capacity of 3.3 tons of raw material per day. The processing plant will provide market support to the fruits and vegetables farmers in Homabay, Nyamira, Kisumu, Bungoma, Migori, Kisii, Kericho and Kakamega Counties. The processing plant will also support horticultural production at Kimira Oluch Smallholder Farm Improvement Project (KOSFIP)
