In order to improve competitiveness of Athi River zone, there is need to reduce the cost of transportation of cargo (for both raw materials and finished products) from and to Mombasa Port. The proposed development of Railway Siding will provide convenient, timely and cost-effective way of transportation of cargo for EPZ enterprises within Athi River zone. Key finaincial ask is for KES 3.68 Bn funding for the Railway Siding project Economic perspective- Increase in export value, market for agricultural products Social – creation of jobs, backward linkages in the community
