Summary

The Kenya Ports Authority wishes to upgrade Mombasa Port Beths: (11-14) and (16-18) utilizing the best international practices of cargo handling at a modern multipurpose terminal, capable of handling containerised cargo, general cargo and project cargo. The upgrades would include: -Straightening of the berths by constructing a new quay 70m in front of the current berths -Enhanced corrosion protection -Land reclamation, resulting in an additional area of ca. 60,000 m2 -Dredging and deepening to a minimum depth of CD -16.5m -Enabling the option to expand the Terminal by reclamation of Berth 15 -Heavy duty general cargo and project cargo Berth 11 -Soil replacement (depending on ground investigation) -Pavement and drainage of container yard -Installation of nine (9) STS cranes -Reefer racks (quantity to be determined) -Construction of berth facilities (fire fighting system, fresh water supply, OPS) -Provision of terminal utilities (electricity, lightening; road signs & safety features) -Office buildings and equipment maintenance and repair shop fences and terminal gates
