Summary

The project is meant to improve environmental sustainability by improving solid waste management and promoting renewable energy in Kenya. This will be a green field project with a new location for the disposal facility. It will reduce the amount of waste that needs to go to the dump site. During the waste studies, the project will review the characteristics of the waste to develop a rehabilitation plan for the current dump site. This will involve installing a Biogas +CHP plant mainly because it utilizes the most considerable fraction of the MSW, i.e., organic waste that constitutes 60-70% of the MSW. Organic waste is also the highest source of GHG emissions in MSW. T. An investment of US$1.7M is sought as a joint venture in the proposed project.
